Hiking Trip to KFARHELDA with DALE CORAZON – LEBANON EXPLORERS
Naher El Jawz river runs through Beit Shlela and the charmed village of Kfar Helda, known also as Bsetines el-Ossi (the Gardens of Ossi) where the most beautiful waterfalls in Lebanon exist. Confronted by the water, the greenery and the plunging falls, you would imagine yourself in Paradise. On February 24, 1998 the Environment Minister listed Nahr El-Jawz as a National and Historic Heritage Site.
HIKE LOCATION : Bsetines el Ossi – Kfar Helda / Batroun / North of Lebanon

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:
The river has a unique beauty drawn by the hands of God. It renders possible the cultivation of a number of small private properties, watering the gardens and plots of farm land in Kfar Helda, Beit Shlela and Bsetines el Ossi. Ruins of many monasteries and churches are scattered around the villages.
In this hike, you will have many reasons to keep your cameras handy. From the moment you start hiking until the moment you stop, there will be scenes you’ll want to cherish forever.
HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.
Our hike will be divided into 2 levels:
Level 4; we will start from Kfar Hilda village at Naher El jawz River and take the path near “Waterfalls” passing through trees and bushes that will lead you to the source. The lust part of the trail is an uphill with old stony steps.
Level 5 will start from Beit Shlela village instead. The trail offers many picturesque spots. The end is an uphill trail too.
On our way back to Beirut, we will pass by Helta to visit visit the house of Patriarch Elias Hoayek.
WHAT TO TAKE:

Archbishop and Patriarch Elias Hoayek(1843 – 1931) was born in Helta, Lebanon. He is hailed as the father of Lebanonism and the founder of the modern Lebanese state. The Lebanese people of all sects hailed his patriotism, followed his example and maintain it to this day.
