This time we will enjoy a hike with a special combination: Laqlouq- Balaa – Chatine, a trail of our ancestors, perfect weather conditions and beautiful peaceful scenery.

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Laqlouq is one of the best winter resorts suited for cross-country skiing.

Don’t miss the opportunity to contemplate the sky and the nature of the region from “Saydet El Qoren” hill located at 2150 m above sea level and you will definitely need a light jacket even if it may be hot in Beirut. A big cross stand there overlooking Batroun – Jbeil area.

Our trail will begin from Laqlouq and its downhill for about 13km. We will walk for a couple of hours to reach Balou3 balaa then Chatine village.

The Balaa Pit or Baatara gorge waterfall (also known as Balouaa Balaa) is very famous, it is one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, and it is a triple natural bridge located in the tiny village of Balaa.

HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous

We will start our hiking near an old church and will see Akoura Beautiful Lakes. Part of our trail will be along with the LMT.

 

Our hike will be divided into two levels:

Level 4, is a downhill beautiful trail of just 7 KM. From the old church, we will continue along a trail leading to Saydet El Dahab, then to the hill. We will also be able to see rare views particular to this altitude terrain. After crossing Laqlouq the scenery changes from this stage; we will continue in a trail and breathtaking views to be remembered forever. The track will take us to Baatara gorge waterfall. There is a snack where will have lunch together and you can also have your own picnic. We will walk down the stairs to see from up “The cave” also known as the “Cave of the Three Bridges“, the three natural bridges rising one above the other.

Level 6 (13 Km Approxi.) will continue from Balaa Pit downhill and head towards the riverbank, then uphill until we reach Chatine village at an old Church (Saidet el Atika) overlooking the area. (Level 4 will go by bus).

 

WHAT TO TAKE:

Healthy snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, lunch, water, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (Professional brand is recommended) and don’t forget to get a light jacket. DC members get a 20% discount on sports equipment in Sports 4 Ever branches.
