DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Tannourine is the plural of the Syriac word ‘’Tannour’’. This village hosts a remarkably large number of monuments dating back to the Phoenician, Romanian and Greek eras.
‘’Balaa Pit’’ or Baatara gorge waterfall (also known as Balouaa Balaa) is very famous for its triple natural bridge. It is one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, located by the tiny village of Balaa, Tannourine area on the slopes of Mount Lebanon.
We will start our hiking by a visit to an old Crusade church (1000-year-old) in Tannourine El Fawka.

HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.
This hike will be divided in two levels:
Level 4, it is a downhill and uphill beautiful trail of just 5 KM. From the old church at Tannourine we will continue along a trail leading to the old mills, then to the’’Nahr El-Jawz’’ river. You will also be able to see rare views particular to this altitude terrain. After crossing Wata Houb the scenery changes from this stage; you will pass through a dense forest of different kinds of trees, giving the impression of being in a jungle. The track will take you to Chatine village to a small old Church stands there overlooking the area. From there you will go by bus to Balaa. There is a snack where you will have lunch and you can also have your own picnic. You can walk down the stairs to see from up “The cave” also known as the “Cave of the Three Bridges”, the three natural bridges rising one above the other.
Level 6, at Chatine village you will have lunch under oak trees near the old Church. You will continue from the village and head towards the river bank until you reach Balou3 El-3abed then the waterfall of Balaa village into the Baatara Pothole. There, you can walk down to see “The cave” also known as the “Cave of the Three Bridges”, the three natural bridges rising one above the other.

WHAT TO TAKE:
