DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT

Maroun el Ras is a small frontier village in the South of Lebanon, where people bravely resisted Israelis in the 2006 war, and which was destroyed then totally rebuilt in 2007.

Yaroun is also a small southern village, where Christians and Muslims cohabit peacefully, and where mosques and churches are found in proximity of each other.

The hike will take place in a very safe location. It will be done in coordination with the municipality and security forces. We will start the day with a visit to the frontiers, and see landscapes from Bint Jbeil and its neighborhood from the Lebanese side. And views from the occupied territories, right in front of us.

HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous

We will start a moderate level 4, (6 Km approxi) and walk in Yaroun, where we will have a stop at an old Othman mosque.

Will continue our walk to the Oak forest, a most picturesque place where the sight and sound of the place will make you forgets the city, your problems and everything! Our hike will end in a garden built in Maroun el Ras. The view there is breathtaking. You can see immense spaces on the other side of the frontier in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and the Golan Heights. We will have lunch at the garden, where you can buy food and drinks from the restaurant within the premises of the garden.

HIKING LEVEL Moderate. The bus will pick hikers who are tired at several locations along the way.
