Come and experience the pleasant moments of hiking along the bank of “Nahr El-Jawz”, and discover the best trail prepared for you with marvelous wildflowers, ancient mills and bridges, archeological findings, old caves, and demolished ancient shacks along the river bed.

Naher El Jawz river runs through Bsetines el-Ossi (the Gardens of Ossi) where the most beautiful waterfalls in Lebanon exist. Confronted by the water, the greenery, and the plunging falls, you would imagine yourself in Paradise. On February 24, 1998, the environment minister listed Nahr El-Jawz as a National and Historic Heritage Site.

HIKE LOCATION                     :  Kfar Helda – Mejdel – Kaftoun / Batroun-koura / North

DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT:

Grab this opportunity to witness nature in all its colors. The wildflowers are so colorful along the riverbank, spreading red, purple, yellow, and white sparkles all over the ground.

The river has a unique beauty drawn by the hands of God. It renders possible the cultivation of a number of small private properties, watering the gardens and plots of farmland in Kfar Helda, Beit Shlela, and Kaftoun. The Ruins of many monasteries and churches are scattered around the villages.

HIKING LEVEL: 1 to 3 for easy, 4 to 6 for intermediate, 7 to 9 for strenuous.

Our hike will be divided into 2 levels:

Level 3-4; Medium – Easy level. Trail around 3 hours, we will start from Kfar Hilda village at Naher El Jawz River and take the path near “Waterfalls” passing through trees and bushes that will lead you to the source, and to the old St. Jean Monastery. Then we will hike to Mejdel, we will see impressive waterfalls, water streams, and ancient footpaths. We will end up hiking next to the water channel in Mejdel.

Level 3-4 will reach the electricity company by bus; the exceptional Trail of stairs is there… 788 steps to heaven.

Level 5 (14 Km approx. 4:00Hr) The same trail as level 4, the difference is; will reach the electricity company instead of Mejdel Village, and continue back to Batroun.

WHAT TO TAKE:

Healthy snacks that will boost up your energy such as dried fruits, lunch, water, cap, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Wear comfortable walking shoes (A professional brand is recommended) and don’t forget to get a light jacket. DC members get a 20% discount on sports equipment in Sports 4 Ever branches.
