It is famous by its 🦟 Honey Production since the ottoman empire.\n🌿🥾 HIKING LEVELS: 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous.\nOur hike will be divided into 2 levels: \n🥈 Level 2 it’s only visiting the amazing landmarks.\n🥇 Level 4 (Approx. 8 km / 3:30 hours)\nOur day will begin with a visit to Deir Saidet Mayfouk (1746 AD) to see the oldest Maronite icon in Lebanon. Afterward\, we will start the hike\, passing by a traditional water source that will allow us to refill our water supply along the trail.\nThen we will visit Saint Charbel cave (Roman Fortress) where he used to pray and continue to Mar Saba abandoned church. The amazing scenery that your eyes catch upon reaching these amazing landscapes is really awesome. We will walk an easy path and pass by Deir Mar Geryes\, a beautiful place where we can see a TANNOUR made from clay. Views are fantastic from there; Batroun and Jbeil are easily observed. Our lunch will be nearby\, and then we will start and head towards the upper part of Osbeh village. Later we will take an easy downhill trail to the old monastery of our Lady of ILIGE (1120 AD); an ancient church located in Mayfouk -Jbeil\, it was the Maronite patriarchal seat for hundreds of years and nowadays it is turn to a national archeological site. It is one of the corners of the holy triangle of Saint Charbel and Sainte Rafka and Saint Hardini. From there the path is downhill and will lead you to Mayfook spring to meet the bus once again. It is a great place to end the hike!\nThen\, we will visit Saint Charbel Cave (Roman Fortress)\, where he used to pray\, followed by a walk to Mar Saba\, an abandoned church. The breathtaking scenery upon reaching these landscapes is truly spectacular. We will follow an easy path\, passing by Deir Mar Geryes\, a beautiful spot where you can see a clay-made Tannour. The views from there are fantastic\, with Batroun and Jbeil clearly visible.\nOur lunch will be nearby; after which we will head towards the upper part of Osbeh village. Later\, we will take an easy downhill trail to the old Monastery of Our Lady of Elige (1120 AD)\, an ancient church located in Mayfouk-Jbeil. This site served as the Maronite patriarchal seat for centuries and is now a designated archaeological site. It is one of the corners of the holy triangle of Saint Charbel\, Sainte Rafka\, and Saint Hardini.\nThe trail continues downhill\, leading us to Mayfouk Spring\, where we will meet the bus once again.\nFrom there we will continue by bus to Qattara to visit Deir Mar Challita (1848 AD). Dale ❤️ Corazon has prepared a hiking event in Bziza – Darbechtar\, a picturesque area in the South-Eastern periphery of Koura. The area is ideal for hiking thanks to plenty of wonderful 🥾 trails passing through breathtaking landscapes. During our trek\, we will also see plenty of Lebanese ⚱️old heritage houses\, ruins\, caves\, 💒 ancient churches\, in addition to 🏛 Roman remains. \nThe trail begins in Bziza\, a village that is 75 kilometers from Beirut and lies at an altitude of 400 meters. Its name is of Phoenician origin and means “the stolen village”. According to archeologists\, Bziza stands over a former village that was destroyed by earthquakes. Bziza is home to the ruins of a Roman temple\, with three walls (measuring 5m in height) remaining\, as well as some ancient pillars\, the remains of other ancient structures\, old pottery fragments and two oil lamps.\nNearby\, is a barrel-vaulted Byzantine chapel of St. Elias with its beautiful medieval wall painting. \nCrossing by Wata Fares the trail continues onto the neighboring village of Darbechtar\, which is famous for its lush 🌳olive trees that covers much of the area. The name of this village is composed of two Aramaic words: Dar and Ishtar\, meaning the House of Astarte. It is believed that the village was the site of an ancient 🏺 Phoenician shrine for the Goddess of Fertility. \n🌿🥾 HIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous\nOur hike will be divided into 2 levels. \n🥈 Advanced Level (13 KMs approx.) will start their walk from the temple of Bziza and continue to the village of Wata Fares\, where they will reach a hill with panoramic views. Then\, they will continue to the historic Mar Shallita monastery\, before heading uphill on a trail that takes them to the center of the village. In the village\, many sites will be seen\, including the famed Mar Elias cave. Afterward\, the hikers will take a spectacular trail taking them to the end of the village. \n🥇 Intermediate level (9 KMs) will also start at the temple of Bziza and follow the same trail as Advanced\, but will end their hike inside Darbechtar. Will get to walk along a track called “Darb El-Moujawkal”. Then will visit the old abandoned factory (Beit El Sabbagh) and the spring water stream. It’s a beautiful 🚶 trail between different forests. From Laqlouq resort and head towards a beautiful natural hanging stone bridge\, where the group will be divided. We will also be able to see rare views like the ⛰3 pyramids particular to this altitude terrain. Then at ‘’ Laqlouq Resort ‘’ will take the bus to Ehmej forest (El Ouata) and from there we will continue walking on a downhill trail. The track will take us to the great 🍂🍁🍂 golden Iron Oak forest in Ehmej ”Al-Ozor”. There will have a picnic 🍞 lunch together. After lunch\, we will walk down crossing by 💧 Ain Nassouh to a vertical isolated rock known as⛰ “Qornet Raheb” or the Monk’s peak.\n🥈 Level 6 (12Km. 4.0 hrs. approx.). We will pass through white peaks\, giving the impression of being in the sky\, will continue from Laqlouq resort uphill and head towards a beautiful natural hanging stone bridge\, after upward in a dirt road until we reach ⛰ Qornet el Tillaj (1899) 🔭 overlooking the area\, all the area is full of natural rock formations looking like Statues making it a unique place to hike in and some wonderful sinkholes are there. From there downhill to El Ouata crossing by amazing cave and springs. There will be minimal time for rest and 📷 photo sessions.
