We will take the path near “Shir el Ahmar“\, passing through tree forests that will lead us to Mazraet Rachtamout and the Church of Martmoura. After refilling our bottles with fresh water\, we will walk uphill and have lunch at Nabeh Ozit. Afterward\, we will take the bus to a huge waterfall at “Nabeh El Keif” where you can take unforgettable pictures. \nLEVEL 5 About 11 Km\, will continue from Nabeh Ozit. We will take an amazing uphill trail following a water pipe where the stunning mountainous landscape is impressive\, with trees seemingly defying gravity by growing on extremely vertical slopes.  We will reach the great waterfall of Nabeh El Keif where we will meet the other group and head to Mazraat Teffah village. The most beautiful views you can ever imagine will lie in front of you. \nLEVEL 6 About 12 Km\, will then take a path downhill and will cross a narrow bridge that is high and open on both sides. Then we will pass by a spring and mill “Ziret Et Tine” with a beautiful water reservoir in the rocks. The views are remarkable. You just have to be there to believe! From there we will continue uphill to meet the rest of the group at the great waterfall then to the village. \nOn our way back we will stop at Bnachaeh Lake where there is a Wildlife Taxidermy Museum. It is a great place to end the hike. \n  \nLive it up! It is nestled at the foothills of the Northern Lebanese Mountain chain better known as Qammoua. \n  \nBeino is also known for its beautiful Jasmine and Rose gardens\, abundant fruit trees like pomegranate\, olive groves\, citrus fruits\, apricots\, almonds\, grapes\, apples\, figs\, many features\, landmarks and great people. It is studded with oak and pine trees; some of them age 400 years. The oldest ones surround the village cemetery located on top of Deir Mar Sarkiss.  \n  \nBeino was under Ottoman Rule; all her capable young men were taken to serve the Turkish army (Safar Barlek). Some died and others made their way back to the village. \nDon’t miss the migrating birds that pass above the motel each season so you can experience a unique bird watching in the region. \nOur hiking trip is to Tallet el Sawda\, Beit Mellet then Beino. \n  \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nThe hike will be divided into three levels: \nLevel 3\, it is a downhill and uphill beautiful trail of 7 KM. From the El Sayad Motel located on the top of a hill overlooking the valleys all the way to Syria and up to the top of Mount Lebanon you will continue along a trail leading to Tallet el Sawda\, then to the river. After crossing two potable water sources; Ain El Bardeh and Ain El Maksbeh\, the scenery changes from this stage; you will pass through a dense forest of different kinds of trees\, giving the impression of being in a jungle. The track will take you to Beit Mellat village. You will have lunch under oak trees near the historical Deir Mar Semaan. From there the bus will take us to the entrance of the reserve. \nLevel 4 (11 Km) will continue from the village of Beit Mellat and head towards the piazza until you reach the entrance of the reserve of Beino village. You will visit the Natural Reserve founded by ex deputy Prime Minister Mr. Issam Fares. It’s with deer and gazelles 100.000 m2 of Mountain and beautiful Artificial Lake where the scenery is great\, the animals and plants live in their natural habitat. \nLevel 6 (13.5 Km) will continue walking up to the top of the reserve\, then head towards Beino village until you reach the piazza (levels 3 and 4 will go by bus). \n  \nYou may see Arka Citadel in Akkar for a quick visit. This temple was erected at Alexander era in honor of Astarte\, the Venus of the Phoenicians. \nOn our way back to Beirut\, we may stop in Batroun to drink fresh Lemonade. \nDiversified? The village dates back to 1300 B.C; we will visit the ruins of a vintage Silk factory\, since 1860\, where we will hike through the scenery of green and autumn-colored leaves! \nFrom there\, we’ll pass by the village till we take an agricultural trail full of olive\, orange\, and pine trees. We’ll cross on our way to beautiful old mills and we’ll pass by a river-related to Damour river. Our trail will lead us to the famous Al Fizr naturally-formed rock fissure and we’ll continue up till we reach the end of the trail. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous. \nKfarmatta is a wonderful place for hiking; our hike will be divided into 2 levels: \nLEVEL 4 (approx.7 km) is downhill and straight beautiful trail. Will start from a piazza at 280 meters elevation. We will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees and herbs\, chirping birds\, fresh breeze\, and rushing water. The scenery is really beyond description. We will have enough time for meditation\, photo shooting and fun. Hadath could mean the new town.  \nHadad was the northwest Semitic storm and rain God and the town could have had a temple dedicated to this God. And the popular tradition claims that the church dedicated to the saint patron of Hadath\, Saint Daniel\, was built on the remnants of a pagan temple. \nJebbeh is the traditional name of the Kadisha region\, called also Jebbet Bsharri in reference to Bsharri the largest town of this region. The Semitic root Gb means well\, deep and could be a reference to the deep gorges of the Kadisha. \nIn Lebanon\, another Jebbeh exists like Jebbet Mnaytra and Jebbet Yanuh. \nHadath is a very ancient settlement. Maronites settled there in the 9th Century A.D. after fleeing the Orontes valley. The town knew its importance during the Crusades. It was destroyed at the end of the 13th Century A.D. by the Mamluk army. Going to this period\, 8 Maronite mummies of inhabitants were found in a nearby grotto\, the Assi of Hadath. After its destruction\, the town recovered and regained some importance till the end of the 16th Century A.D. \nAs usual\, will be two groups:  \nOur walk there will be in the vast white hills till we reach the Cedars Forest. Those who wish to have a moderate walk will pass around 6KM (2hours) from the main square of the village to the Cedars Forest there is time for rest and photo shooting. The others will take a longer path for about 9KM (3 hours) till they meet the first group in the Cedars Forest for lunch. The path will continue straight to reach the hill overlooking Bekaa valley\, then a pine forest\, the old broken-down village of ancient Ammiq\, old churches and a farm. The church is the most ancient part. Bring your cameras with you; you will definitely use them. We will cross by many water sources where the water drops create a unique sort of music. It is located in the North of Lebanon\, in Jbeil area\, and it is one of the highlights of ancient caves in Lebanon where you can take a lot of unforgettable pictures. \nIt is believed that some of these caves-churches are aged between 1000 to 2000 years old. You reach these churches by climbing steel stairs because they are carved high in the rocks. \nHIKING LEVEL.1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nThe hike will be divided into two levels: \nOur first level 4 is intermediate. It is a beautiful trail\, and it is an amazing walking path of just 7 KM. You will visit the cave of Mar Semaan; one of Mar Maroun’s followers. These caves are very old and date for more than a thousand years. There are residues of frescos painted on the inner walls. \nThe stunning mountainous landscape\, with trees seemingly defying gravity and growing on extremely vertical slopes\, is impressive. You will also be able to see rare views particular to this altitude terrain. The scenery is great. \n  \nLevel 5 will continue to the cave church of Mar Antonios with 4 floors\, dating around 600 years old. It is a steep downhill walk to the church. You will return back on the same route to meet Level 4 and walk along a track rich in beautiful views and you will have lunch under huge oak trees\, beside St. Peter and Paul Church. \n  \nLater on\, you will visit “Mar Takla”\, a historical church in “Shamat” village built in the Second Century B.C. from the remains of Roman ruins. \n  \nDiversified? Autumn Farewell hike.\n  \nWe are going to a new area\, to the church of 40 martyrs in Gharzouz\, to an abandoned village in Bjerrine\, and to the silent river where we reach Mar Antonios cave-church. It’s wonderful!!!   \nThe 40 Martyrs are soldiers of the early Christian era executed by Lucian in 320 AD. Around this church we can find many tombs and old wells\, Roman remains\, ruins and pottery. This old monastery might have been built on the ruins of a pagan temple. The view from there of the valley of El Helweh makes it a great place to visit. \nThe ruins at Bjerrine village (the Ghost village) are from a prehistoric empire that has been on top of the mountain as Bcheale fortress in Batroun. It was once a beautiful village\, famous for its vegetation with a plentiful supply of water from deep wells. \nWe will visit the old church of” Mar Elias” and will walk among many ancient ruins and caves dating from the Canaanite\, Phoenician and Roman eras and pass by abandoned houses\, mills\, and wells. \nFrom there will take the easy uphill trail to Hbaline\, to visit the village. There will discover great landmarks where we will take some magical photos.  \nThis hike must not be missed. The history of the village goes way back to an era that is still obscure because of the absence of archeological and historical assets. \nThe ruins of Faqra\, the traditional Lebanese houses\, the old and new bridges\, and the remaining mills in the Valley of the Cross are the best proofs of the importance of the village and its rich historical originality. \nHIKING LEVELS: 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous. \nOur hike will be divided into 2 levels: \nWe will hike around 10 Km as level 4\, for just 3\,30 hours\, will start at Nabeh El-Laban\, it will lead us to a wonderful old natural bridge of rocks carved by water millions of years ago and there you can take as many of photos as you desire then to the impressive remains of a Roman temple and a citadel built on ancient foundations still dominate the scene\, giving a view over the astounding gorge. The second part of the trail at the Golden Ozer Forest is easy and open to a panoramic view. The protected forest contains chestnut\, oak\, Turkish oak\, pine\, cedar and other tree species. \nLevel 5 (13 Km) Once we reach the old bridge of rocks\, those who wants will continue Uphill and head towards ‘’The Phoenician tower’’ overlooking the area\, then downhill until we join the other group. \n  \nDiversified.? The main villages are Qehmez\, Nahr el Dahab\, Yahchouch\, Ghbale\, Aabre and Chouwan. \nThe Jabal Moussa biosphere reserve presents a rich diversity of flora and fauna. At least 350 flora species are found in the reserve\, and it’s a Global Important Bird Area (IBA) as per Bird Life International criteria. It presents a variety of migratory and soaring birds which appear depending on the seasons. \nJabal Moussa is renowned for the unspoiled historic Adonis Valley with its ancient agricultural terraces and trails that date back to Roman times. The valley features rivers and streams\, mixed forests with oak\, pine and olive groves and many important plant species. \nThis trail of just 10 KM. Will start from the village of Qehmez\, it’s an easy and beautiful walk. From Baydar El-Shawk you will continue along a trail leading to old well\, then to the Cross site. We will walk for a couple of hours to reach the great Iron Oak forest in Ehmej”Al-Ozor” then Ehmej village. \nEhmej is the perfect destination for your adventure. Stunning views and friendly villagers make Ehmej an ideal destination for escaping from the city. \nWe will start our hiking by a visit to “El Aalaq” spring in Laqlouq between the majestic mountains. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nOur hike will be divided into two levels: \nLevel 4\, (7Km. 2.5 hrs. approx.). It’s a beautiful trail between different forests. From Laqlouq resort and head towards a beautiful natural hanging stone bridge\, where the group will be divided. We will also be able to see rare views like the 3 pyramids particular to this altitude terrain. Then at ‘’ Laqlouq Resort ‘’ will take the bus to Ehmej forest (El Ouata) and from there we will continue walking on a downhill trail. The track will take us to the great Iron Oak forest in Ehmej ”Al-Ozor“. There will have a picnic lunch together. After lunch\, we will walk down crossing by Ain Nassouh to a vertical isolated rock known as “Qornet Raheb” or the Monk’s peak. \nLevel 6 (12Km. 4.0 hrs. approx.).  We will pass through white peaks\, giving the impression of being in the sky\, will continue from Laqlouq resort uphill and head towards a beautiful natural hanging stone bridge\, after upward in a dirt road until we reach Qornet el Tillaj (1899) overlooking the area\, all the area is full of natural rock formations looking like Statues making it a unique place to hike in and some wonderful sinkholes are there. From there downhill to El Ouata crossing by amazing cave and springs. There will be minimal time for rest and photo sessions. We will cross many bridges; the most famous one is the Roman Stairway and will go across a Roman passage of striking beauty inside the cliff and then we will go to Marej Bisri\, the magic valley. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nEl Marej is a wonderful place for hiking; our hike will be divided into 2 levels: \nLEVEL 4 (approx.9km) it is a downhill and straight beautiful trail. Will start from Roman Stairway at 620 meters elevation. We will experience the fascinating Lebanese wild nature with its colorful trees and herbs\, chirping birds\, fresh breeze and rushing water. The scenery is really beyond description. We will have enough time for meditation\, photo shooting and fun. We will have lunch at the bridge above Al Barouk River and then we will continue to Marj Bisri. \nLevel 5 (approx.13 km) is a bit tough. The view you get to see from the valley is beyond imagination. Will start from Mazraat El Chouf village at 825 meters elevation and take a trail between the old olives trees that leads to Roman Stairway. We will pass by many springs\, wells and cross many bridges. We will have lunch together beside the river\, rest a bit and then continue to Bisri village.   \nLevel 6 (approx.16 km) The extra part of that trail is Downhill at the beginning and at 920 meters elevation\, requires good physical strength. \nOn our way back to Beirut\, will may stop in Joun at Deir al Mokhales Monastery. It is an old and historical monastery atop a hill overlooking beautiful views. It was built in 1711\, and stands on an even older site. There is a beautiful church and a collection of icons\, manuscripts and religious objects with tomb of the monk Bchara Abou Mrad 1853-1930. \nDiversified? Yes! The hike will be in Jrabta village at Wadi Harba\, the trail is filled with ancient cave churches\, ruins\, and where the Saints walked like (first Patriarch Saint John Maron\, St. Rafqa\, St. Hardini…). \nAt the end of the trail\, we will benefit from a swim in the Mediterranean Sea with clean transparent water as well. \nAs usual\, there will be two levels of difficulty. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nLevel 3: An easy walk (8 km\, approx. 3:00Hr) with very light descents. It is ideal for picture taking. The walk will take place at ‘’Darb St. Rafqa’’ or’’ Wadi Harba’’. It was mentioned as “Ambi” in Tall-El-Amarina letters\, in the 14th century B.C. It was also mentioned in the Assyrian engravings during the reign of King Asr-Hadoun (681-669 B.C). \nDuring the Greek-Roman era\, Anfeh was mentioned as “Trieres”\, which means the ship with three rows of oars.  \nIn the Byzantine Empire\, “Trieres” was mentioned in a wider aspect. It was a patriarchal center\, and its pastor participated in the Council of Chalcedon in 451 A.C. It was destroyed by the earthquake that hit the Mediterranean eastern coast in the middle of the 6th century (551 A.C).  \nIn the seventh century AC\, Anfeh became a part of the Arab empire. It was mentioned in the Hadith of Prophet Mohammed that Anfeh was a strong barrier in the Roman sea. It is also known that Muawiya\, the founder of the Umayyad dynasty\, built a part of his military fleet in it. \nThe Crusades occupied Anfeh early in the 12th century. They called it “Nafin” and rebuilt its marine citadel [The Citadel of Anfeh]. \nIn 1289 A.C\, Al-Mamaleek lead by Sultan Qalawun obliged the Crusades to withdraw from Anfeh. They destroyed its marine citadel and threw part of its stones in the sea. Afterward\, they made Anfeh the center of a district consisting of Al-Koura and Bcharreh areas. \nDuring the Ottoman occupation\, Anfeh became the administrative center for the Side of Anfeh that consisted of 13 villages and 14 farms. Later\, it became the center of Qaza Al-Koura (district of Al-Koura) during winter\, and a Serail [The Old Serail] was built in its southern area.  \nDuring the French mandate\, Anfeh was an important base. During World War II\, a military airport was built in Al-Sawdat\, southern Anfeh. \nSince the independence of Lebanon\, in 1943\, Anfeh has been playing a significant role in different social\, academic\, political\, and economic aspects of the country. \nOur tour hike\, due to its privileged location on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea; will be an easy and beautiful trail at Anfeh. First\, we will go and take an easy path leading to “Saidet el Natour”\, an old historical monastery\, due to its strategic location it was invaded by all kinds of soldiers who passed through this area.\nLater on\, we will walk in the old village rich in ruins and caves and visit a very old Byzantine church (Our Lady of the wind) and the Citadel of Anfeh located on a peninsula known as “Rass Anfeh” and considered a Crusader residue characterized by its rock-cut channel (Al-Khandaq)\, we will encounter as well old graves\, mosaic pieces\, Salinas\, wind wheels\, hills\, caves olive presses\, and Phoenician salt pans\, where you can take a lot of unforgettable pictures. \nA tour inside the castle will take place before proceeding to Nabu\, a modern and exceptional museum in Chekka hosting a rare collection of mosaics and historical pieces from the Mediterranean coastline\, as well as permanent exhibitions by local artists. \nLater will head to Batroun\, crossing by Chekka tunnels\, (The Hidden Tunnels) which is currently one of the top tourism destinations in Lebanon\, overlooking the spectacular Mediterranean Sea\, reach in breathtaking views exposed to the sun. \nA delicious seafood sandwich lunch will follow in a popular seafood shop/restaurant in Batroun. \nOn our way back to Beirut\, we may stop to drink fresh Lemonade. \n  \nDiversified.? Dhour El-Choueir is important for its August yearly carnival\, honoring Lebanon’s emigrants. \nThe Greek Catholic monk Abd Allah Zakhir set up an Arabic language printing press using movable type at the monastery of Saint John at Choueir\, the first homemade press in Lebanon. He personally cut the type molds and did the founding of the elegant typeface. He created the first true Arabic script type in the Middle East. The first book off the Zakhir press was printed in 1734; this press continued to be used until 1899. \nIt is the birthplace of Anton Saadeh who founded the Syrian Social Nationalist Party and of Tanios Bou-Nader Khneisser\, the father of the Sword & Shield Folkloric Dance. \nIt will be our destination for this journey. Will start from the main square of Dhour Choueir and end at St. John Monastery Khenchara. \nHIKING LEVEL. 1 to 3 for easy\, 4 to 6 for intermediate\, 7 to 9 for strenuous \nLevel 4: (11 km) is a moderate hike. Starting from the village where you can have a stroll in the narrow passageways and contemplate the old houses and ancient arches\, you will pass by three water springs like Ain Al-Khassis. From there\, you will continue further along a picturesque trail and cross Mgharit el Za3im Cave of Antoun Saadeh\, a water source of Ain el Hanout and Hirch Khinchara.
